The Maitland Club

Like the better known Bannatyne Club, The Maitland Club printed a large number of important collections of manuscripts relating to Scotland during the nineteenth century, with particular strength in the medieval period and ecclesiastical history. See also The Bannatyne Club.

Volumes may be printed predominantly in 'record type', a specialist typeface favoured in nineteenth century printed works of medieval historical sources. This typeface unfortunately prevents the addition of an accurate search facility by modern optical character recognition software. Portions of some of the texts below which are printed in a normal typeface are therefore searchable (usually the introduction, contents, document abstracts and index), while the remainder of the text is provided as digital facsimile only. The books are priced accordingly.
